Default What's housing like in/near El Segundo?

<moved this from OT, figured I could get some better help here>

I got a job offer there that i'm considering taking. i'm from the east coast and know nothing about the area though. the job is in el segundo, where would be the best place to live? i'll be renting a 1 bedroom place probably, what do those go for in the area? most of the listings i see are for places in manhattan, hermosa beach, both of which i also know nothing about.

thanks for any advice...

Default Marina Del Rey, Playa Vista, Manhattan Beach...

All nice areas, all expensive rents. 1 bedroom place in a nice building in those cities will likely run you about $1400-$2100 per month.

Default Yeah rent in most of LA period is insane, El Segundo rent would be slightly cheaper.

Most places in a nice area such as Marina Del Rey, Playa, Manhattan Beach, West LA will run $1200 if your lucky to somewhere in the $2500 range. If you want to own property in those areas I hope you have a really nice job and haven't broke the piggie bank on your car already :P

Default Not necessarily...

You can expect to pay about 1K (to start) per bedroom if sharing a nice house or townhome. Studios expect starting at about 1200 per. Much also varies depending on how close to the strand you are (the strand is a bike / walk path that runs along the water from Torrance beach to Santa Monica).

You may have already checked these out, but to get an idea, check out westsiderentals or southbayrentals. Search for Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach (North Redondo is closer to El Segundo than South Redondo), Manhattan Beach, and El Segundo. Many listings have pictures - should help to give you an idea of what's out there and what it looks like.

If you find someplace and want more info, let me know - maybe I could cruise by and take some pics for you.
