Re: anyone have experience fighting speeding tickets in Cobb County?
Good Luck. I got clocked in Cobb heading home 45 in a 35. I actually tape the cop using selective traffic enforcement, and I'll leave it at that. I taped him from my deck clocking only certain people, and then turning the radar gun in the air for others. I went to court pleaded not guilty, and then rescheduled the case for the officer to show up. I came back to court again with the video, the GA By-Laws on traffic enforcement, etc. I spoke with the judge and once she heard he was using laser any defense I might have had in her mind was out the window. The police officer still did not show up, and they would not dismiss the case. They indicated that they would have to reschedule the case again, and I wasn't taking another day off for this. Ended up pleading Guilty instead of "Nolo", and paid $50 and the judge dropped the speed to 5 miles over so no points.
I tried to use the GA Codes (Code 40-14-9) might help as I am familar with the area as I work over then. It is a slight downhill grade. I hoped the codes could be used against them but it didn't help much. Here's a link to the GA Codes you might want to check out. Hope this helps.<ul><li><a href="http://w3.lexis-nexis.com/hottopics/gacode/default.asp">http://w3.lexis-nexis.com/hottopics/gacode/default.asp</a</li></ul>

7% grade is = to a rise of 369.6 ft over one mile...
Or 92.4 feet in a quarter mile.
That is pretty steep as far as highways go.
For the record, I am a retired police officer, who taught RADAR and LASER speed enforcement at both the local and state police academies. If it if were a radar ticket, you would have a better chance of beating it.

The judges in the traffic court/bureau are all about the $$$$
I don't know how it is done in Cobb now, but years ago, the officers did not come to the first hearing. Technically is was considered an arraignment where you would enter a plea. Guilty pleas would be handled right then, not guiltys were placed on the docket for a hearing and the officer subpoenaed. The judges would dismiss the case if the officer missed two hearings that he was summoned for (the first one does not count)
