Default Haynes Manual Laugh of the Day

Car: 1995 Nissan Maxima
Problem: Hesitation, Check Engine Light on
Diagnosis: Bad knock sensor (per scan tool)

Haynes procedure, paraphrased:
1)Remove throttle body 2)Remove upper intake manifold 3)relieve fuel pressure/remove fuel rail and injectors 4)drain coolant 5)remove lower intake manifold 6)knock sensor is below lower intake manifold 7)reassembly is reverse of removal

OldSchoolAudiGuy procedure:
1) Retrieve 3/8" drive 12mm swivel socket from toolbox. 2)Attach 3/8" drive 10in exrension to socket 3)remove knock sensor (visible below intake manifold) 4)install new knock sensor to proper torque spec (yeah, do the math for the swivel, duh) 5)wash hands, nurse scrapes, and enjoy case of beer your boss gave you for fixing her car.

Moral of the story:
Whether you are using the Bentley or the Haynes use your common sense too. I sometimes pick Paul's brain at Autobahn when I'm up there buying parts to see if he knows any shortcuts. The Bentley procedure for doing an outer CV on a 4000 or 80/90 is just plain wrong, for example!
