Phillip(Quickdraw) and I are tossing around the idea of going to VIR in late July for a HPDE. It is a NASA($44/yr membership) event so there will be all types of vehicles and activities. We have decided we cannot wait until the fall ACNA Cherokee event for track time and VIR is not too far of a drive. Plus, a whole different track than we are used to attending(currently Barber, Road ATL & Roebling). Let us know if anyone else would be interested in making the trek.

Keep me posted as I'm getting really really really close to landing a trackable car.

Drivers are responsible for their own numbers; they're not allowed on the windows and must be like 1.5" wide (they have all the info on the website if you go). Painter's tape is allowed, so that's what most of the HPDE folks used. NASA also has an instructor with you in the car, and passing rules were the same (at least in HPDE-1)--only in designated areas with a point-by. They did do a red flag drill, which was interesting and useful I think. They'll also have mandatory classroom sessions, but I don't remember much of substance being discussed, especially at first.
Besides that, it was interesting watching the actual races going on as well.
