Default Speaking of gas shortage

how do you get gasoline taste out of your mouth? Just attempted to syphon the nearly full tank of gas out of the currently non-running 4000 quattro and into the Miata (to avoid a trip to the pumps). I should empty it regardless of real or perceived gas-shortage. Anyway the syphoning didn't work, could never get it to keep flowing, but I did manage to get a mouthful of it. Yuck.

Next idea. Jack LR of car up, disconnect fuel pump inlet hose, direct into gas can. Pour into Miata. Repeat about 15 times til empty. If Miata becomes full put remaining gas into Jeep.

Default 3rd option

fill up Miata at gas station.
Let the 4000 sit idle until you are ready to get it running.

I had an old neighbor growing up (during the 70s gas crisis) - he always had a few cars in his driveway and would typically siphon gas between them. I think the ambulance took him to the hospital 3x that summer from swallowing/inhaling while siphoning. Either he was not very good at it or it is inherently dangerous.

Default LOL

I just filled it up at the gas station. $3.199 per gallon, took just under 9 gallons to fill it up. Not enough time to mess with it.

I do, however, want to drain the tank on the 4KQ. It may be sitting for a while, and I don't want the gas going bad in the tank.

Default You could just add some STA-BIL to the tank

It'll help preserve the fuel but you'll need to run the engine to get some of the STA-BIL into the carbs and other systems.
