Default Tire Recommendations?

Its time for new tires and the one's that I had were HORRIBLE (Sumitomo HTR Z). Any advice? Just looking for a basic daily driver 225/40/18. I've heard that the MX's are loud (and according RedWing and Wade, fall apart), the Michelin's don't last and I can not justify paying for S03's. I don't track the car. I am looking for a decent tire that is not loud and has good wear. Suggestions?

seems to be getting good reviews and Chris just got a set. Check with him on what he thinks of them.

Default FALKEN Tire, Azenis ST-115 and Azeins Sport. High performance with quiet ride. Z-speed rated.......

Falken's new ST115 blends high performance and stylish looks with new quiet ride technology. One of the trade-offs in ultra high performance tire design has been the high feedback of road noise. The ST115 utilizes a revolutionary new base rubber compound with micro vacuum capsules that literally suck up road noise, making this one of the quietest rides now available. And don't worry about performance because the ST115 has all the features you'll need to compete on the street.

•Quiet ride base tread rubber contains micro vacuum capsules that suck up road noise.

•Round shoulder profile won't interfere with suspensions or fenders.

•Stylish graphics & rim protector ridge deliver good looks and protect your wheel investment.

•Wide grooves and directional tread look good and deliver excellent wet and dry traction.

•Performance casing design features polyester plies with an extra sidewall reinforcing ply, full-width steel belts and nylon cap plies...the latest technology.

•Low profiles, high speed ratings, long wear: 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 series; V & Z-speed rated, UTQG 360AA

Default Standard recommendations inside.

TireRack's survey/rating grids are a great place to start.

<a href="http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AR4&url=%2Ftires%2Fsurveyresults%2Fsurveyd isplay.jsp%3Ftype%3DUHP" target="_blank">Ultra High-Performance Summer (M500s, etc.)</a>

I've run Dunlop SP9000s for the past 20K miles. I'll probably squeeze 25K miles out of them; they definitely held up well. A nice cruising tire that gives up some treadwall firmness for better ride quality and less noise. Just a bit cheaper than the big boys in the Max Performance category.

Default Thanks guys.

Those Avons look interesting. Now if I can just find them. Looks like they are only carried through Tire Rack.

Default I agree on the SP9000s...I've had mine for 20k

and I can probably get another @5k out of them. Solid tire, not too pricey - held up well.
