New buyer eyeing silver 2K A6 4.2 with extras
Hi Everyone,
A few days ago, a long time family friend told me that a garage owner he knows recently aquired a silver 2K Audi A6 4.2 with S6 front/rear seats, chipped and has 65,000km on the odometer. Today I test drove it and I was immediately impressed - almost surprised how good it was considering it's age. He's the 2nd owner but has no intention of keeping the car since it was a trade-in by its previous owner, a company executive. I'm totally new to Audi. What sort of faults should I be looking for in this example?

Hope this goes well for you. there is a lot of info on the forums about the 4.2. I sure love mine, sport seats are very nice indeed. I guess the most common complaint on these is the torque converter, so VaG-com it and check all codes. with 65km, you should be safe to have the trans fluid and filter changed, but have it done by the book and use only Audi fluid. There are some on here who maintain that it can be done safely about every 30,000 miles without trouble, after that it's a crap shoot. I did mine at 91k at a well known dealer, trans nearly died, but they made good on it. I will not take that chance again.
Good luck.
Good luck.
