Default Any opinions on investing in Dallas area real estate?

I have a lead on an apartment complex there, but I don't know the first thing about Dallas, being from the San Francisco area. I'd like to get an agent's opinion before spending the time and money to fly out there to investigate this place. Anyway, if you have any thoughts or experience you'd care to share about this subject, I'd love to read 'em.

Feel free to email me, too, if you're more comfortable doing that. Thanks!

Default Should be a good investment.... (I'm not an agent!)

you know the saying... "location, location, location".... it really depends where the comlpex is and what the neighborhood is like.

If it's something near Uptown or Downtown, then that's the new hot area in Dallas real estate. There's lofts, townhomes and multi-units going up in that area.

Also, something up north of town near Northwest Highway and between Abrams and Hillcrest is a good area. Close to Downtown and right in the middle of a lot of Dallas' nightlife.

I own a duplex up in Far North Dallas, about 25 miles north of Downtown. It is about two miles from the Tollway so there's easy access to the major freeways. I've had tenants in it for almost a year. Before that, it was vacant for about three months, but I was not actively seeking tenants at that time.

If there are no agents on this forum, then let me know and I'll send you the contact info for an agent I have used... she's a friend of the family and has worked Dallas real estate for years.

Default Geez Dude. You need a little bit more info than you're going to find on AW...

...to really make a good decision. Info about future apartment demand, general price expectations for the Dallas market, and then how the submarket where your complex is located is expected to be in the future, plus the condition that complex is really in, etc, etc...
