Sign up at www.thedriversedge.com. Do it soon because it usually sells out.
The only thing you need to do with your car is make sure your tires are in good shape, and your fluids (oil, coolant, brake) are fresh. Also be sure your have enough brake pad left.
You will also need a helmet, but can borrow one at the event if necessary.
Detailed instructions and "beginner info" can be found on the website above.
No need to prep/mod your car anymore, as you will not be able to use "all of the car" just yet. This first event will be fun and you will learn a lot about driving and your car.
You will have a personal instructor assigned to teach you the skills. They are always really nice and help you drive at whatever speeds you are comfortable with. There is no pressure to be the fastest driver out there. This comes with seat time. Just be patient and have fun.
The Drivers Edge website also lists some hotels for you to stay at. Book these soon also because they will fill up.
