Tire de-treaded going 65......

Yeah, I just bought the car (certified) in August. The tire that came apart was part of the set that came with the car. Had car serviced for oil change 3 weeks ago, and also had them check/adjust the psi in all tires. They said it probably came apart bc of low tire pressure (ie too much sidewall in contact with road). Should I grow a pair and make the dealership pay for 1 of the 2 new tires they're mounting, since they're the ones who checked the tires just 3 weeks ago? (They're mounting a 2nd tire bc they said it was starting to do the same thing as the first tire). Should I make them also pay for the 2nd new tire?

When I bought my Porsche it was also a certified car. After a few weeks I finally "really" looked at the tires and realized the rears were at the wear bars. I bitched to the dealer and after many phone calls they replaced the tires.

They are usually considered normal wear and tear items and obviously were used and not warrantied with the car for ANY length of time whether its 3 years or 3 hours. Tires aren't part of the scheduled maintenance and aren't covered under extended warranties. Only people that warranty tires will be the tire manufactur or the place that puts them on brand new. And that is usually pro-rated.
Its always tough to measure how much life is left on a tire.
Look at it like this. Brand new Audis might have 4 year warranties, but tires aren't part of the deal. I agree with this because there are crazy nutbags who wear out one set of tires in a weekend. :-) So, it sets a slippery slope to start replacing tires on used cars because they unfortunately blow out in 3 weeks.
