Default Janet, you are quite welcome . .. just let me know :)

it hurts to see someone hurt in an accident that is not their fault and it hurts even more seeing Fritz all banged up with the possibility of having to suffer with a MkII suspension under his skin.

Hopefully Audi will come through with the MkI parts that are needed, otherwise I have control arms and sway bars. I don't have the struts and only my own stock springs which I need to hang onto.

Just let me know, the offer is open ended

Enjoy your trip to the UK.

Default Yes indeed it did....(more)

Besides recalling the awful sound of the impact of the collision (and the shattering glass), the only other thing I really remember is the REALLY LOUD explosion when the side airbag deployed...and the awful pain in the side I felt immediately. I truly don't remember feeling it on the left side of my head & neck, just down around my ribs. The deployment has caused some serious bruising to my ribs on that side (enough so that my doc initially thought I'd fractured some ribs...but I didn't), but it obviously protected me from more serious injury. And I'm quite sure that I'd have neck pain and/or problems with my head had the side airbag not been there. My neck was a bit sore for the first 3 days but is now absolutely fine...and don't forget that my witness thinks that Fritz spun around 1-1/2 times before landing in the yard/driveway of the townhouses. I'm VERY impressed at the results of having that side airbag...even though it is the very reason I'm so sore. Better to be sore than broken, though, isn't it?

And by the way, there was so much smoke & dust from the airbag's deployment that a couple of the first bystanders were afraid that the car was on fire!

Default Nice to know all should be okay.

Nexxtt has been verbally updating me on yours' and Fritz's conditions and prognoses. We've both been there before. I took my 1985 5000 from the top of a wet, hilly curve into a stout telephone pole once. Not a pretty sight, but in those pre-any air bag days, I escaped with just a bruised shoulder and a week or so of soreness. It really is comforting to know that not only does one's car look better than anything else on the road, but it's much safer than that boxy Volvo or the soccer mom mobile, too. Our thoughts and prayers are with you (and Fritz, too, of course) for a full recovery.
Empty Nester Rocket

I guess you won't need my waiting list slot after all. I'm happy for you that you get to keep Fritz... after all, that's YOUR TT, responsible for many happy memories, and thankfully many more to come!!

Remember what myself and others have said... don't settle for anything less than perfection. If they realign your dashboard 1mm off center or something just "doesn't look right" please force them to fix it. Every little detail. It will be a pain in the butt to keep hounding them if they're stubborn, but 2 years from now you'll be happy that you didn't "put up with" minor problems.

Thanks for keeping the forum updated on all of this! We're all glad you came out okay, and glad that it looks like Fritz will too!

Default Re: Checking everything carefully... (more)

I had a collision in the front-right quarter when I owned a Nissan Altima SE. The body shop did a great job repairing the car. I never really noticed that it was damaged after the fact. At time of the accident, the car was two years old and worth somewhere around $14k. They pumped $8500 into it to get it back on the road. My insurance company was great.

They replaced the front bumper, the hood, the right quarter panel, the electrical system, the A/C, the windshield washer fluid container, the radiator, the airbag (yup it popped), and the front right door needed to be realigned. Those were the major things that needed attention. I thought I had checked EVERYTHING before I accepted the car. I did NOT check everything at highway speeds though. The right front door wasn't aligned properly and there was this tiny, tiny whistle that resulted. I lived with that for 3 years! Nobody really noticed it, but I knew it was there.

My suggestion is to check the seams carefully when they give the car back. Make sure that nothing stands out (literally).

I couldn't go back to get it fixed because I moved from CT to NC the day after getting my car back. That made it very difficult to get everything taken car of.

Other than the whistle, I didn't have ANY problems with that car. It is still going strong in my sisters' driveway.

Good luck with Fritz!
Regards,

Bill

Default I never seem to be around when you post, was in Montreal when the accident happened. Anyway glad that

...you are not in the hospital. They can fix the car, the damaged looked bad but a good bidy shop can do wonders. Hope you get this message. JIM
<img SRC="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/AudiWorldPics/2000/JIMTSIGTTFORUM.JPG"BORDER=0>
