Default "Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope!"

And I ain't near as cute as she was!
<img src="http://www.supershadow.com/starwars/pictures/3/leia_2a.jpeg">

The problem:
Removed OEM **** and pulled up the gaiter. Set everything back in-place, and commenced to snugging it all up.

With the gaiter 'down' in normal position, screwed the **** on until it stopped.
<img src="http://i11.tinypic.com/61yxp8y.jpg">

The collet is screwed all the way down till it stops on the shoulder of the threads.

Next, installed the head, and screwed it onto the collet until it shouldered up:

So, what Force am I not feeling? Is there a different collet I should have used? Should I just pull the gaiter (dust boot) up into a ziggurat? Buggers!

Default Wrong "head" perhaps? B&M short shift rod make a difference?

Got it second hand, so maybe a short-shifter kit is my connundrum?

Default READ the email I sent you............................

that thread (internal) was modified to fit a B&amp;M
there is an insert that needs to come OUT and the existing (hopfully)remaing threads will allow the **** to fit further down on the shift shaft.
Ill resend the email!

Default You are almost there!

DO NOT USE the small threaded insert (first pic)
just see if you can get any threads to catch up inside the ball WITHOUT the insert in the mix!
CALL ME if you dont understand!
