"M power this" You want to know what a collapsed spring is?

thank you for the response. the thing is, my rears sat in coilbind (coils touching) as soon as i lowered the car to the ground, day one. even when brand new, ALL the PSS's sit with the three main springs in coilbind. the top and bottom coils are where the spring becomes progressive. looks to me they designed it to do this. most reasons are the same as why the front tender springs sit in coilbind, and that's to keep the spring under tension when suspension is fully extended from a big rebound. i'm personally not happy with the fact that the paint is being scraped off like it is. from Bilstein R&D, the rears go from 350+/- before the middle is coilbound, to 500 something after they do. i'll give them another call and pick their brains somemore.

Id like to know why the hell one would design the spring so the coils sit on each other like this without any live loads or dynamic loads acting on the suspension.. Makes no sense to me because they will be noisey like this.. How? The coils are always in contact except when the load is lifted.. I hear clunks and rattles all the times when Im going over some unsmooth pavement.. I highly doubt Bilstein designed the springs like this, I think they fcuked up big time just like they screwed up on the GTi kit.. With no live load inside your car the coils are touching, now imagine what happens when you have a 400lb live load (2 passengers) and then throw in some dynamic loads.. **** our car is a four seater so what happens when you have a 6/800lb live load? BTW, how long have you had your suspension setup?

the car is flat on the ground and u can see the coils dont look bound.

The only clunk i get is on an extreme slope with one rear side fully compressed and the wheel high inside the fender. i don't consider that a problem - i never have any noises when driving.
i believe earlier versions had problems and h&r revised their coilover springs numerous times.

i've had them on for a month and a half now. spring looks exactly like yours. i do get clunks when going thru a compression dip abit fast and at an angle. no creaks though. you're right in that it seems stupid to have them sitting like that when static. only thing i can think of is it was the only way to give height adjustment AND a smooth ride.
