What is with people that for no reason just stay in the left lane like they own it. Or when the move to the left lane to pass and somehow they forget to move back afterwards.
Alright, jumping of the soap box...:-)

I assume you mean the US in general? I have the same feelings - while there are a good handful of great people here, there are equal amounts of douchebags that give Americans a bad name everywhere else in the world. It's sad, I guess the great quality of life we have compared to others gives us the right to total disrespect and arrogance to other cultures and people. NOT!
Common courtesies even have taken a backseat in this country (at least where I am now). I can count the number of "excuse me's" said on a single hand in a given week. Seems most people down here replaced it with dirty looks and sneers for not moving out of their way in tight spaces. Sad indeed.

And it's why foreign policy is so difficult. To the world, America is Brittany and men dropping their children off bridges. Pyschotic killers in high schools, who'd use a hammer if they didn't have a gun.

I haven't been to enough places to say it's the US in general, I can only really comment on my little corner of it. I do think that NJ has got to be of the worst (I grew up in NY) and i'd like to believe that it's not like that everywhere although that's probably just wishful thinking.
The lack of common courtesies is what bothers me most. Sometimes even something simple as going food shopping turns into a stressful experience. I work with some people like this, people who only care about themselves and are usually rude and sometimes nasty to others (For example I have been told to shut my fvcking mouth, had doors slammed in my face, have been disrespected in other ways, etc. by a handful of such people here). Everyone just lets everything go like it's no big deal, my favorite response when mentioning someone's behavior to a manager or coworker is "it's like that everywhere", and nothing is said or done to change things.
