Default 180, 225, or S4???

I am hoping to get a used s4 sometime in the next 4 months---however i may not have the cash so I am considering a used TT. Is there a huge difference between the 180 and the 225 (or the 2000 vs 2001??) should i go with lower miles but the 180 or higher miles and the 225? thanks Ted

Default the difference is 45 BHP, an intercooler, a tail pipe, ...

and stronger rod bearings, and probably some otehr stuff. I am sure someone else will add to the list.

how fast do you want to go? A chipped 180 feels like a stock 225, more or less. A chipped 225 ... dont know but if must be pretty damn nice. You must remember that some colours are much faster than others. see my post below.

Default Check out an extended warranty for the 225 and you could be good up to 100,000

Im using warrantybynet although I hear warranty direct is better.

180's and 225's have the same problems in general so the HP wont affect its reliabilty.

Default Just traded S4 for 225...

I had the S4 for 3yrs, and loved it. It was stage II (chip/exhaust) and was quite fast. The 225 is without question much slower, but it can out handle the S4 any day, which in my opinion makes it much more fun to drive. I also enjoy having a convertable. In fact, I find myself not needing to speed to have fun. I just enjoy cruising around. The S4, I felt like I needed to always be racing to truely appreciate it.

Either way, it is personal preference, you can't go wrong with either one. If you do get a TT, don't skimp...get the quattro.

Default I second that ... get quattro

on the newer models you can only get quattro on 225. I have an 01QC180. sounds like your buying preowned so you have more options.

Quattro all the way - although it sucks on the snow without the right tires

Default I'm selling an S4 for a TTC 225

Wanna buy it? ; )

I love the S4 (01.5), but I want a dedicated sports car that handles and corners better. The S4 is obviously more practical. And, IMHO, the TT is more fun. My particular family and commute situation means I don't need more room or passenger seats than the TT affords. So goodbye S4.

The sadness of departing with the S4 will be eclipsed only by the joy of the TT.
