180 Quattro Grinding going into 3rd only

Anyone here experiencing this problem? It's the only thing preventing my TT ownership from being a beautiful experience.
Mine is a 2001 180 Quattro with 10K miles. The problem only occurs when shifting from 2nd to 3rd and with RPMs >3500. If I shift right from second to third when the RPMs are high, there is a grinding sound that comes from the transmission. If I pause between second and third, I can prevent it from happening. Of course, this pause allows the RPMs to drop below 3,000, which totally negates the rapid acceleration I am trying to accomplish.
Anybody with any suggestions?
First time to dealership - no problem found
Second time to dealership - mechanic rode in the car, heard the problem. Bled air from the from the clutch cylinder. Problem was gone for 1 day, then returned.
Third time to dealership - transmission examined, no unusual wear or problems observed. Clutch timing was adjusted. I suggested that the problem may lie with the synchro's, but I was informed that all the synchros work together, so the problem should be occurring on all gears, not just 2nd to third.
Thanks,
Tom
