dont 180hp VW GTI's weigh in around 2900? how did they get the 180 FWD TT to weigh 2500???

Id have to believe its weight is simmilar if not more than the GTI's

First, you're talking about low speed acceleration, not "fast." There's a difference.

Second, the FWD 180 does 0-60 in about 8.0 seconds, the 1/4 in 16.5@89.9, and weighs 2937 lbs, according to http://www.theautochannel.com/vehicles/new/reviews/2000/solo9945.html

The same site (http://www.theautochannel.com/vehicles/new/reviews/2001/solo0106.html) shows the 225 quattro with a 0-60 of 7.0 seconds (1 second faster), a 1/4 of 14.5@90 (faster), and a weight of 3575 lbs (a difference of 638 lbs, less than the 785 you claim).

BTW, "fast" (top speed) is governed on a stock 225, so there is no basis for comparison.

Even a 225 Roadster is faster than a 180 FWD Coupe... Not that it really matters, of course.

In real world 180FWD is a little slower than 225Q, but anyone can dream.
The weight difference is actually appx. 300 lb.
