Default 2 Chip Questions: Question #1.......

If increasing horsepower and torque is as simple as reprogramming the chip, why doesn't Audi just go ahead and do it, call it "ttS", and charge big bucks for it???

marketing, save your moves for when you need them (plus we are doing product research at no cost)

Default Well, besides some nonsense about an extra intercooler and a bigger turbo and some other stuff,

I believe that is the essential difference between the 180 and 225, the price difference is about ~ $3k a VERY expensive chip (and the other stuff). I could be wrong about this though - I sometimes am... ;-)

more stress to the engine...possibly more warranty claims. Audi is very conservative

Default 225= quattro and 6-speed standard, plus the extra IC and bigger Turbo...

lower compression ratio on 225 also. More then just a chip, obviously.

But, as was said above, Audi tunes conservatively. And IMO, just a chip tweak does not a TTS make.

Not at all from what I understand. Internals are much beefier.

Default Yep. Im in the Service Biz ( as we experts call it :>)...

and you cant just throw fast crap in any engine without other components becoming too stressed. Warranty work will go through the roof.

Trust me, Audi has done the numbers. If it made fiscal sense, they would do it; apparently, the warranty backend is far too costly to stick a chip on the car and charge high dollars for it.

Warranty claims are very very expense both in time, money and most importantly, your satisfaction. its far easier to retain a happy customer than convince an angry one to return.

This can be applied to any industry (im in computers..cant put larger processors or HDs in without first boosting the fan speed, fan location, parts rubbing against one another...)

So in other words, chiping my car will increase the warranty work on my car, thus more problems??
