Default 2000 Audi TT, Need help changing manual transmission fluid.

So i keep reading how i should change my transmission fluid to fix the problem of the stiff shifting im having. I was wondering how to do it, and how much fluid i should buy? I already heard that the Royal Purple Max-Gear Gear Oil 75w90 is one of the best for transmissions. pleas help me...

so my transmission takes 2.1 liters of transmission fluid. i found out by asking advanced auto. This did help my shifting a lot after changing the fluid with Royle Purple. Such as putting it into reverse and the jerking that was happening, but there are still problems shifting into 1st and 2nd. only when its cold though.

redline MT-90 is what you want, it cured my 02J 5 spd in my vw and the 6 spd in my TT is happier too, my 01 225 quattro drained in 2 places, theres a how to somewhere

IMO and of others and test comparisons royal purple is not a good product, their oils test poorly and i suspect their other lubes are similar, Redline MT-90 WORKS!!! redline and amsoil are two of the VERY FEW real synthetics on the market, i use amsoil oils in some applications but for the trammy redline is the best for ME. saving a little $$$ due to redline's cost is not worth it, as i commented how MT-90 worked in both trannies it was amazing in the poorly functioning 5 spd how after the miles on it increased say to 1,000 it kept improving!! your nickel-your choice

Redline MT90 or a mix with the 'thinner' Red Line MTL.
They now also offer a MT85.

But: your synchros are worn, and oil will only help so much.

Default TT225 Quattro: gear oil specs, volume. Rear diff oil specs

New to me 2001 TT 225 Quattro 6 spd.
Not sure what services have been done, so want to change all gear fluids.

I assume gearbox shares oils with transaxle (PTU)?
I assume GL-4 (so it does not eat the bass synchros)?
Rear diff ( I assume GL5 (no brass in there) 75W-90?
(I already did the Haldex clutch fluid.)

my low mile 40,000 shifted a little off, MT-90 did the trick, of course it won't cure a badly worn unit but will prolly help. search to find a how to showing bevel box drain as well as the tranny plug. haldex has its own special lube + procedure again search. haldex tool is prolly needed + a big hex for the tranny, good luck! of course the timing belt is most important thing to be done, use the full kit + replace everything!

I ordered MT90 and MT85 (I have several other Audi manuals) for the TT gearbox or PTU unit; found description how to drain the "outbox" (?).

What to put in the rear diff? standard GL5 (no brass in there) 75W90?

what amazed me is the MT-90 was better right, but it continued to improve until leveling off ar a thousand miles!
