Default Russell, the $64,000 question is....

What is the state of play in terms of Audi 3 year WARRANTY?

I know Lancaster Audi are supplying the AmD chip themselves (£1175+VAT), but any info on the matter will be much appreciated.

Default AmD torque figures

For some reason, and AmD agree with this, their rolling road produces much higher torque figures at the wheels than Audi specifies at the crank. I will not even try to go into the vaguaries(sp) of 4 wheel drive dyno'ing.

But, if you take that 265 lb/ft as a base, the delta after the chip is 67 lb/ft. Multiply this delta by .78 (the ratio of 207/265) and the delta is 52.25. Add this to the stock figure and it gives a stock + delta figure of 259 ( say 260 ) lb/ft.

So, possibly, adjusting the dyno figures back to real figures, this set up is worth some 265hp and 260 lb/ft, which is a damn good set up, especially as close to that 260 lb/ft is going to be available over a very broad rev band.

Don't despair Graham, MTM has a 267HP/284ft lbs chip available. And you CAN get it.

Default Re map changes boost, mixture and timing settings(more)

The basic changes are to increase the boost and adjust the timing and mixture values to suit. There are other more subtle variations in addition to producing more power which include changes to part throttle settings to produce crisper throttle response.

Resultant effect on fuel economy? If you take advantage of the increase in power available yor fuel consumption will suffer, after all there is no such thing as a free lunch. However, in cruising situations and under light throttle loads fuel ecomony will in general improve.

Default MTM Prices here may just preclude that(more)!!

US Dollar conversions for MTM chips according to MTM importer here in Australia

250HP : chip (exchange, read no socket) $1650

255HP : chip (exchange) + rear exhaust $2700

265HP : chip (exchange) + middle & rear exhaust $3400

Default But... how about an American buddy, $695 U.S. and FedEx? (you solder it in)... or... (more)

a complete spare ECU with chip installed for just under $1400 U.S.? Declared value at $100? Theres ways around OZ pricing ya know. Probably something the likes of us could figure out wouldnt ya think? Additionally I'm hearing all those exhaust mods are overkill on the 225. Its a very free-flowing system till it hits the mufflers, and those are easy/cheap to replace. You could probably confirm that... whats the O.D. of each of your exhaust tubes now? The 180 is 2"(metric equiv)... if you're that size or larger AND "dual" thats a LOT of exhaust for a 4 banger... even a turbo'd one. I've 3" on a 2 litre engine running 24lbs of boost. Your call but if theres a will, theres a way.
