Default Agree!!!!!!

If performance is the issue...get the 225, no doubt about it. Need more? chip the 225.

Chipping and the warranty is a pretty dicey subject. Some dealers are 'chip friendly'. Some aren't. If your dealer wants, he can say something stupid like...of course your shocks are shot...you chipped the car, they aren't covered. Yeah, you could fight it, and probably win, but...is it worth the hassle? For some of us, Yes, for others, NO.

Default the 225

I'd probably go for the 225 if I had to do it over and had the extra cash.

The 180 happens to be good for me and I really like it, some things to consider though.

225- comes with 6 speed
225- has bigger breaks?
225- already has a dual exhaust
225 has more hp and a chip will make it smoother.

now if you were going to replace everything anyways even with a 225, ie breaks, exhaust, chip and go stage 3 instead of keeping the k4 that comes with it maybe the 180 would be ok to do all the upgrading with but I still think that 6 speed is rather nice, and if I recall there is one difference in one part for the 225 engine, some searching might turn that up or Jim might bless you with his knowledge.
But if your think later of a basic upgrade of chip and exhaust for the 180 I think you might as well go for the 225 and get extras with potential for even bit more hp.and think cost is a wash but you get bit more with the 225.

(where I am, a island, I rarely get into 5th, but if I ever moved or maybe went to the track a bit I bet I'd be wishing for it.)

Default actually . . .

a chipped 180TTQ is FASTER than a STOCK 225TTQ! Ask any 225 driver that has driven my chipped 180TTQ!

A chipped 225 is faster than a chipped 180, obviously!

You can setup both cars to their max and I think hte 225 will barely be faster than a 180. Mayeb .1 to 60. Top speed will basically be the same. The pulling strength will be about the same depending on the chip tuning and whatever else is done.

I've had both: get the 225. Noticeable power increase and a great 6-speed gearbox.

Default We have a 225, miss the lightness of the 180.

The 180's torque steer is a nice distraction from the turbo lag, great commuter, perfect fun. With 225 and quattro, you'll soon want another 100 horses, a dozen mods and will seek and destroy 911s.

AoA has stated that chip tuning may void your engine warranty.

The burden would be on Audi to prove a problem was related to chipping. Buy a spare ECU to be safe.
