Default 225 vs. 180

Thinking of "upgrading". Could someone confirm or deny this:

"The 225 is much faster, and much smoother than the 180. Very different. The added weight has a minimal effect. Its a different turbo, different exhaust and different ECU program. The turbo boost is much less abrupt, and it pulls further in the RPM range."

Thanks, Halser2u

Default more

well its more than just the engine..

the 225 have a slightly lower compression ratio which means you can boost it up more

the two are bsically the same engine you can upgrade a 180hp to be FASTER than a 225hp EASY

BUT besides that there are the AWD in the 225 and most of all the 6 SPEED TRANNY!!!!!!! that you dun get in a 180hp......which i think is the MOST important thing...

when i was debating between the 180hp and the 225hp the 6 speed man and the AWD were the main reason why i picked the 225hp because i knew i could make the 180hp as fast or even faster than the 225hp (and it cost less) but i cant change the tranny and drivetrain system (well you can but it'll cost you a lotta $$)

so.....that's my 2cent

Default Kind of true but

I would suggest test drives of both cars - most dealers should have them both available to drive so you can judge for yourself.

Default When I drove the 180 it felt anemic compared to the 225.

Plus the AWD in the winter here in PA is a must and the engine is overbuilt compared to the 180.

Default true....but no 6 speed :-)

i think it is just how much you wanna $$ and how do you drive (and where)

if you are looking for performance and overall balance def the 225

but if you just want something less $$ and almost the same amt of fun and dun really car about having one less gear then yes 180Q would do

Default Re: more

If you wanted to make a 180 as fast as a 225, it would cost you more than just buying a 225 to begin with.
