Default 235/45 is a 1% difference 235/40 is a -2% difference FYI

Default You can check the tech specs of the tire in question. 8.0 is prolly the "measured" width and 7.5

acceptable.

17" and 45 series, yes. That their allowable lower limit.

60mph with a 225/45R17 will be actually be 60.7MPH on a 235/45R17 to an officer checking your speed.

Some tires are offered in 235/45/17 but not 225.

Default I've started running 235/40-17's on 8" wheels and I'm quite happy so far.

Can't wait to hit VIR and see how they do there...

Default OEM 18" allroad wheels are 7.5 " and use 245/45s, which is the maximum

recommended width tire for that size rim. I think its pushing it a little, but I'm sure the lawyers would let audi do anything stupid. (just a few weeks and I'll be putting on my free winter wheels and tires, compliments of the early 225 class action suit).

As long as everything clears I think you'll be OK.
