Default I barely took off any at all...used 2000 grit wet sand...it's even finer than whats used

to take off orange peel. Plus, I only wet-sanded the damage area, and did a swirl-remover for the rest of the hood to blend the areas. I think we have at least 3 layers of clear coat, so I think I'm still ok.

But, thanks for the input!

...I have some upcoming wet sanding on my baby, and just the thought of any "sanding" on my paint has been scaring me, so this is very reassuring! It looks like you did a great job, particularly for the first time!

Default Yes, it looks awesome, but I was referring to your

comment of "a whole paint job." Yes, by all means, great to fix the peel and the damaged areas.

Default FYI, an improperly attached shingle is not "an act of God,"

it is negligence. So unless there was a consistent pattern of shingles being lost on other nearby buildings (i.e. tornado or major windstorm), the responsibility is with the property owner.
