Default Because they want you to have exhaust leaks and have your car sound like a lawnmower?

I used the gaskets on mine...

Default Because the gaskets would "crush"........

under heat cycling and this would cause the nuts holding the flanges to loosen up. 42DD now uses self locking nuts (oval) that do not loosen up under heat cycling.
Go ahead and use the gaskets.

Default I believe the hardware has been changed during the course of production..

I got the 42DD about nine months ago and the hardware was crappy. I used the gaskets with the supplied bolts (that weren't self-locking), and lo and behold, they loosened up at both the exhaust manifold and near the cat/testpipe, producing significant leaks (meaning annoying, smelly and noisy). I bet they loosened up less than a week after install! Eventually my tech changed them all out with much better hardware that hasn't loosened up at all for many many months. I had to pay my tech for the labor, and definitely should have taken his advice about the hardware from the get-go.
