Default 550 lbs of weight difference between 180FWD and 225Q, how this will affect performance?.

My car 180 FWD weights around 2570 lbs (borla and lighter wheels)...

I have a Stage 2 APR with around 227HP and I'm number one in my dealer for the 225Q (D status last week)... this huge weight difference makes me think twice about switching cars .

Right now my TT has 11.32 lbs/HP , the stock 225Q has 14.25 lbs/Hp !!!

To get the 225Q to the same lbs/HP I will have to get the same lbs/HP my 225Q will have to have around 285HP, and to have a similar lbs/torque it will have to have a torque around 340.

What should I do... is it worth the 9k dollars difference (6K for new + a loss of 3K including taxes in my TT).

What do you think?

Thanks

2570lbs!! Did you actually weigh it? My 180TTQ weighs ~3150 with lighter rims and 3/4 tank of gas.

Default MNE's FWD TT was weighed on a public scale and was around 2525lbs I can't remember the exact weight.

He lost around 50lbs with BBS LM's 25lbs or more via Borla and cut out the 66lbs of rear ballast (thought spoiler he added would compensate)and he runs without the spare/jack-tools etc. So you can get a fwd TT down in weight to this figure although I agree with you as most FWD TT weigh alot more (not my car). Default Buy the 225 becuase as nice as the FWD car is (I have one) the 225 is better and Quattro will alow

...you to but the power down in a way the FWD car could never hope to do. If you are at a real 227HP you are already over the limit of what a FWD car sould be asked to handle. The 225 is a more balance car and will have traction and handling advantages that are real and significant. Plus the 225 motor can be brought up in power to some eye watering numbers. There is also no reason this car can't go on a diet, while it will never be as lignt as the FWD car it is unquestionably capable of surpassing your FWD cars power to weight ratio. You get SO much for your money with the 225 one could argue "why buy anything else". Six speed gear box, dual mass fly wheel, conecting rods, rings, cams, pistons, crank shaft, intake and exhaust manifolds, twin intercoolers, cooling system upgrades, ECU changes, exhaust system, bigger KO4 turbo, combustion chamber shape and numerous sundry parts are all in the 225 package. If I were you I'd follow through on that 225 order. JIM
