I will want to hard wire it, anyone recomend some one in St Barbara area to install it.I've searched the archieves but still confused. Should you tap into a fuse (which one)or accessary power? What is the main advantage to the remote display?

the detector is hanging there in the window...you mainly hear it before seeing the flash and it's so close to line-of-sight as to be instantly recognizable.
If I were trying to hide the detector because it was illegal or something maybe but what's the point...just hang it up there and run the wire to the fuse box.

1. You can mount your V1 almost behind your rearview mirror, excepting for the rear radar pickup. With the remote unit your V1 will not be lit up when a cop gets behind you with radar. A lit up detector is one little extra thing to get you pulled over.
2. I have my remote viewer mounted between the temp and gas gauge on the underside of dash cover. This place is also hidden from someone standing at your car window.
3. The remote location in item 2. above allows you to keep your eyes focused straight ahead and not be distracted when the thing starts beeping or burping.

drive through areas where the X band is going off continuously, you can just reach and tap....it silences that particular band that it keeps picking up. Bad description, but that's why I like having it close at hand.
It's the round, grey button on the left. Also, if you have the remote, you can hide most of the detector behind the rear view...only have to leave the right corner sticking out to read signals coming from the rear.

cop from seeing it should you get pulled over. The mute button is easier to get to should the need arise (and it does).
