Thanks in advance for anyone who responds. I'm not going to rag on Audi, as this is my 8th product by VW / Audi in the last 3.5 years, ( 3 Jetta's, 1 GTI, 2 S4's and now my second TT Roadster 225). I think over all they have a great product and I just got one of the "Few" problematic cars which are destined to come off the line from time to time.
For the last several months I've been dealing with my 2003 TT roadster having a multitude of problems. It has been in and out of the shop so far countless times which total an accumulative of 26 days.
The first problem I had was minor, the front suspension bushings needed to be replaced.
Shortly after that, I started having problems with my headlights shutting off while driving.
I took the vehicle in 5 separate times for repairs and finally on the 5th repair attempt they corrected the problem. Along with several other visits which included some electrical problems, and other random issues.
This brings me to current, My vehicle immediately after purchasing developed a warbling/grinding/knocking noise coming out of the engine compartment. I took it to the shop and they heard the problem, and thought it was a tensioner in the timing belt area,
They made the repair attempts, found a faulty tensioner and returned the car to me. The very same day I picked up the car, I drove home and found my car still making the same noise. I took it back to the shop and they attempted to repair it again, ordering other tensioners and replacing them. Again they returned my car to me telling me it was fixed.
Try 4, I called AoA and get them involved as it is starting to get annoying they get their reginal person involved, he takes a look at my car and recommends repairs. Needless to say. The car just got out of the shop on December 22nd. Which was its 4th repair attempt. Unfortunately the problem still exists. I took the car back to the shop the same day I picked it up and got a service sheet verifying, that the problem still exists. Both Service Managers, and 1 tech heard the problem. They gave me a print out and suggested I bring it back again for the 5th repair attempt.
I called AoA back and told them I want them to buy the car back.
I heard back yesterday after almost a month of waiting and their answer was. We've decided that we will continue to service your car under the manufacturer's warranty. But we won't be buying back your vehicle. However, we will help you get out of your car through your selling dealer if you'd like to trade into a new car.
So my question is for any of those who've actually gone through the lemon process or getting AoA to buy back your vehicle.
Are they are just playing hard ball with me. Does writing a letter sent certified/return receipt make a difference in their decision process? Should I take them up on their offer for a new car?
I really need some advice.
Thanks,
/c

I was given the exact same answer by Audi regarding my TT after almost a month at the dealer. If you truly want AoA to buy it back, go through the BBB Autoline. It may be a bit slow and has some hoops to jump through, but it works.
Audi participates with the BBB and is obligated to work with them. If you decide to go this route I'll help you as much as possible.

start by reading here

That's what some owners of that thing call it, so I'm just curious to know if that's what you're referring to.
