Advice on Mobil 1

Just bought Mobil 1 for my 5000 mile oil change. The guy I bought it from told me that once you use synthetic oil you should never use normal oil again. To do so risks engine damage. Is this true or a bunch of hogwash?
BTW, I got 5W30 -- is this the appropriate viscosity? As I understand it, synthetic oil is much less temperature sensitive than regular oil, so you don't need to be too concerned about it being too light. Right?

...til first service , depending on your drivingpattern/behaviour....
All new TT have service indicators !
One other thing, dont use other oil than that one recommedet in the service book, this is a special LONG LIFE oil and can only be bougt at Audi Dealer !!!

5000 miles will be the second change. I already had the Audi dealership change the oil at 2500 miles. Doubt if they replaced the original oil with more of the special break-in oil. We'll have to see whether oil consumption becomes a problem. D*** I hope not.

Having done this to my Probe, I speak from experience.....
The only thing that will happen is that the engine's oil seals will shrink after going back to conventional oils after using synthetics (blends count for this as well). I used synthetics for a few years and then switched back to conventional... now my front and rear bearing seals seep and the valve cover gaskets leak (always smelling burning oil on the exhaust manifold now)....
When the TT gets here in July, I'll be running only Kendall GT-1 oil... this stuff although a conventional, really handles the stress and rigors of high revs and hard driving with the added bennefit of minimal sticker shock copared to the synthetics.... (I always change the oil and filter every 3K... regardless what the mfg recommends...) I figure if it can handle the 12K revs of a motorcycle without breaking down, it is fine for a car....
