this is my first TAS(UK) blowoff valve which replaced the stock plastic bypass valve. as u can see this is a twist open top kind and inside is a spring and a rubber sealing. if u look closer u can see the sealing is a bit deformed on the rim due to heat, and that's causes leakage of pressure and makes noises in low rpm throttle lift offs.
my second bypass is a Forge Motorsport and it is not a twist top. it is piston type with bolts around the top plus dish shape rubber sealing (instead of flat like the pic sealing) to make sure there are no leakages.
bypass valve releases the exceed pressure back to the airfilter box whereas the blowoff releases to the atmosphere. my mechanic told me that 1.8T should always stick with the bypass coz there is an electronic device which sense how much pressure in the airbox. If blowoff is used, some errors will occur.
so everyone, please make sure u buy a bypass instead of a blowoff, and second, make sure u dont get a twist top for sealing security reason, and third get a piston type which offers better precision in the opening and closing of the valve instead of my TAS with just the spring to regulate the movements of the valve.
180FWD/Wetterauer/Remus/Pipercross Filter/PIAA/17" BBS RXII/Audi Rack/GReddy turbo gauge/Forge Motorsports recirculate bypass valve/NGK Iridium Spark Plugs

i have valves coming(rush delivery) to me early next week--i am going to test fit, but the distrubutor has valves waiting to ship as soon as i give the Ok...if you are interested in the group purchase email me!!BTW the valves are ultra high quality race/piston style...they are bypass and are a direct replacement for the stock bosch valves!!!these valves are used on rally/touring cars and can handle more than 30psi boost!!!!
