Thanks for the suggestion but I was in the middle lane on a three lane expressway. He could have easily passed me on the left.

This works well. Just turn your parking lights on and they will back off. This
only works well in the day obviously and you also avoid the brake pedal pump thing. Which in my younger years I did way to often. Pumping the brakes can cause an accident and injury to you and the persons behind you.

One traffic school instructor told us he turns on his hazard lights....
and pulls over at the earliest opportunity. If they insist on tailgating, he'd rather they go tailgate someone else
