Hi
I recently removed the air filter box and replaced the whole thing with a Green cone filter.
I've been searching the AW forum for several days now without finding some conclusive evidence that this is actually good for anything. It seems everyone has a different opinion on this subject.
I do not expect any increase in hp but I kinda hope it somewhat reduces lag. I also enjoy the increased DV sound ;-)
Any1 have some trustworthy articles, information or tips on this subject?
I also wanted to ask if any1 have some experience with the ABT 4-pipe exhaust kit, (http://www.abt-sportsline.de)

The cone will flow more air (documented) but not necessarily generate any more torque or horsepower. Spool up will be improved and lag reduced a bit as a result. Without insulating the cone and isolating it to suck outside air you will actually lose some power as the underhood heated air will be your primary intake (and power reduces as temps go up). I've insulated and isolated mine and it works quite well but this will require some ingenuity and work. This is a controversial subject with the TT and tests have revealed that the ECU programming does not adequately adapt to increased air flow...

Since this pic was taken, I've sealed the insulation to the fender well, insuring that only (cooler) air from the fender vent is ingested. I'm also fabricating a cold air intake running from the left lower grill that will feed the airbox (I've removed the stock Intercoolers and gone with a Front mount freeing up this space). Currently the intake area is only running 5-10 degrees over ambient while in motion. The biggest differences in avoiding "heat soak" will be noticed with an improved intercooler though. A minor 10-30 degree difference (at the intake) is minimal when you consider all intake air must then go through the turbo at how many hundreds of degrees? Improving the cooling from that point on (intercooler mods) will net more gain.
