Now that my real CA plates have finally come in (took over 2 months), I'm ready to install the Euro-plate that I bought a while back from TTstuff.com:
<img src="http://www.ttstuff.com/images/license_plates/GLP-AUDITT_2_540.jpg">
Unfortunately the plate did not come with any instructions, so here are a couple of questions:
1. Did you have to drill the bumper to fit the black plastic piece the plate comes with? If so, where exactly, i.e. which holes did you match from the plate holder? (pics would be great!!)
2. Did you install the black plastic plate holder with the thicker trim on the bottom, so that imprinted "Made in Germany" text is right side up, or on the top?
As you can see on the pic above (it's from their web site), it's not so obvious what they've done - looks like a photochop to me..
Thanks!

euro plate frame to the car. The plate just clips in from there. Thicker trim goes on the bottom. Will look hot on your car.

1. First I put the plate on with the special plastic surround but I didn't like how it stuck out.
2. I then removed the plastic surround and then installed the plate (which is thin metal) straight into the gap using industrial velcro.
So my suggestion would be to remove the OEM plate cover and then simply attach the plate using Ind velcro in 3 main areas (left middle and right).
Job done

Remove the euro-sized bumper insert. The bare plate fits in there (it's about 1/2" shorter than the width of the recess).
I simply drilled 2 holes in the plate, thru the black numbers/letters, and 2 holes in the bumper skin beneath them and used aluminum pop rivets. I painted the pop rivets black and you can't tell they're there. With the rivets, it's a little harder to steal the plate, too.

or I could install some black flush screws into the existing hole on the bumper (from where they drilled my plate before)

Remove the front insert panel. Save it. Install the Euro plate in the revealed opening using quality double-sided tape.
It looks like you are in SF from the photo. SF tickets for no front plate. Keep your front plate handy in the cockpit, even on the dash when parking anywhere.
I live in Marin. I have two front insert panels. Both have a small amount of sylglide on the tabs so they pop in and out easily. On one front panel that got dinged by a person who parked by braille and had a trailer hitch, I mounted my stock Audi plate holder and plate. Marin doesn't ticket for no front plate. Neither does Oakland where I work. When I go to SF, I pop out the plain panel and pop in the one with the front plate to avoid the SF ticket.
I don't take the TT to SF very often, so generally the plate stays in the duffle in the rear hatch. I like having the extra plain panel. Even if I trade this TT, I can use it on my 2004 or 2005 model....
