AMU vs BEA engine . What are the differences???................

Default AMU vs BEA engine . What are the differences???................
I was informed that the engine code for the 225 HP Audi TT was changed from AMU to BEA in 2003 (or late 2002). All I know is that the BEA engine adds variable valve timing (VVT). Does this mean more horsepower or what? Any other changes besides the VVT?

VVT was for emissions, not horsepower...

It just retards cam timing at low RPM's to better meet the more stringent emissions regulations..

Default Look for some old posts by John S and you should be able to find details
on how the emissions affect the 180hp vvt engine.

Default Also adds an EGT sensor in the turbo and some other
minor vacuum changes etc.
