Michael,
When I was thinking of leasing the TT my dealer said there would be absolutely no problem getting out of the 180Q for a 225Q, because of the high demand. He didn't indicate at what cost though. I imagine with the TT going at list, the market value is probably higher than the residual. But, I've leased my last 2 cars and they make it very difficult to get out early. I would suggest GET IT IN WRITING UP FRONT if your thinking of switching.

Getting out of leases can be very costly (long)
I got out of a Mazda 626 ES lease to lease a TTQ. The leasing company wanted plenty for the balance of the lease. (The balance of payments etc.)I was fortunate to sell the 626 for $2k more then the leasing co. wanted to give me (wholesale) and still lost about $500 on the transaction. I leased the TTQ because of the short wait (4 weeks) and because I plan on keeping the TT after the lease is over. My open-end lease is structured for 20,000 miles/yr. Residual is calculated to be lower, but I don't care because this TTQ is a keeper.
The only advantage I see that TT leasees having that want to end their lease is the current high residual, but remember though the leasing co. will not lose money. The balance of the payments are still due.
