Default Any difference between chipped 180 and stock?

Is it worth spending $500?
Can you actually feel the difference of 20hp from 180 -> 200?

Assume the stock puts 7.4 sec in 0-60, how would chipped TT perform?
Please comment.

Thanks.

Default YES!!!!!! it is worth every penny....Dont look at the HP #, that is not

why you should buy the chip, it is the torque # that puts a smile on your face =)

When you step on the gas the rush that you feel is the torque (Lbs) not the HP. Think of a 500HP+ 16 wheeler steping on the gas from a stop, lots of power but no pop, it the torque.180hp is 173 torque, chipped is 195HP 203 Torque.

Default well, certainly none of us -- at it would void our warranties -- but i have a friend who did chip...

his 180 -- and he found the result similar to what hottub describes.

Default your torque # is incorrect...it is actually 245 ft/lbs for the 180hp

from APR website

"The chip is designed to operate within the turbochargers' efficiency range. The APR 1.0 Bar performance chip is good for 209 horsepower and 245 ft. lbs"

Default Here are my 0-60 times . . .

using a G-Tech on my 180TTQ with my stock exhaust.

This is what I posted 2 years ago. I have not done any other testing since getting the Borla exhaust installed:

All testing was performed at
Robert Moses State Park, Fire Island, NY
Field 2
March 23, 2000
43° F
3/8 Tank of Sunoco Ultra 94

Garrett Stage II w/ Stock Exhaust

1. 6.83
2. 6.62
3. 6.54
4. 6.73
5. 6.78
6. 6.77

Stock ECU w/ Stock Exhaust

1. 7.31
2. 7.66 - bad start
3. 7.52
4. 7.69
5. 7.35

Let the car cool down for 10 minutes. neither fan turned on.

1. 7.55
2. 7.49
3. 7.77
4. 7.30
5. 7.66

Garrett Stage II w/ Stock Exhaust

1. 6.71
2. 6.80
3. 6.78
4. 6.75
5. 6.69
6. 6.61
7. 6.69

I also ran a single ¼ mile for fun when I was leaving

15.35 90.4 mph
0-60 was 6.99

As you can see I did quite a few runs that day! I also did this with ScouTT a week before. I don't know where those results are. The 6.54 was my best chipped time. I was able to back that up with 6.61, 6.62 and 2 runs at 6.69 I think that is pretty consistent.

With the stock ECU I was able to run a best of 7.30 with 7.31 and 7.35 to back is up. Considering I have never done this before I am pretty happy with it.

When Scott and I originally met we would do runs using each others cars as well. I was consistently a few clicks faster than he was in both cars.

My car for some reason even with the extra weight was still faster than his car! He had a Garrett Stage II and a Borla exhaust while I still had my stock exhaust. I had many more miles on my car, his car only had a few thousand miles at that time.

My car weighed in at 3330#, which included my stereo, harness bar and 2 sets of 6 pt race harnesses. I have since made the stereo removable and also removed the rear seats to save me about 150#. I will know the exact weight in a few weeks when I head down to FL for a ProSolo. I have also replaced my front brakes, which saved me 10# per corner for a total of 20#. If my math is correct then the car should weigh in at 3160! I think I should be able to run a 6.2 0-60 and get down to about a 14.8 ¼ mile run, if not faster.
