When I heard that the US Gov. was removing the distruption of GPS acuracy a few weeks ago, I was excited since it meant my TT would become more acurate. Well, it's had the reverse effect since then. Now I have a $1,200 system that tells me to turn down streets that I already drove past. Great!
Anyone else notice this change or am I nuts?

Mine has been very accurate. If I drive past a street (after repeated requests to turn) the system promply computes a new route.

My hand held Garmin eMap GPS has a traveling margin of error of less than 30 feet at all times. It just started working better when the Feds turned off the SA (scrambling algorythm or something like that).
A 3 watt system like a car GPS should work as well. Even if your GPS antenna came disconnected, this would mean a loss of signal not a loss in accuracy. Even with communication with 2 satellites a GPS can do good navigation, just not good altitude.
In short, it's broken. And you get to be the guinea pigs for the technology at your dealerships, I am sure.
Good luck. I know a little more so if you are interested, ask.
Ivan

Thus improving the accuracy. Maybe something in your garage/parking lot blocks some of it and as you drive it synchs up.
Just speaking from my experience from using the Neverlost system in Hertz rental cars.
Heh. Some times i'm a block over, then after a few minutes I'm dead on. Varies by city too.
Anyone know how many channels (satellites) the GPS in the TT uses? Mine's not here yet 8-)
Tom Boucher

I am bringing the car into the dealership for a few things next week. Air condition whine, AM radio whine, and the famous Turbo valve whine. The GPS problem is just #4.
I'm familiar with GPS since I've been using my Garmin 12 on my bike and my eMap on my boat. Both are noticably more acurate now. The TT system is only a partially GPS based system. It also uses the trip computer to calculate the distance traveled. Changing tire size will throw it off. But I have changed nothing at all since I've owned the car (5 weeks) and the Nav system is deffinatly less acurate now than it was weeks ago.
I'll be sure to post my follow up after I get back from the dealership.
