anyone chipped 2001 225 TT w/immobilizer?
#32
This is what i just got from Stratmosphere...(little long)
kinda of answers the question but still some doubt....
April 2000!!! My TT Roadster is an earlier car as well. I bought it in May I believe. I do NOT think you have the Immobilizer as that just showed up about 3 weeks ago in the USA on the TT.
So...I can get you a chip immediately. You can keep your ECU if you like.
$695 for the chip with exchange. If you want to keep your ECU it is an additional $750.
Like I said, I have it in stock and you could have it on Thursday if you like.
I DO need to know if you have ESP (which I doubt). You would have an ESP button along with the Hazard button and seat warmer buttons.

Not that I recall, as it would be noticeable. I had narrowed down my chip selection to MTM and APR, and my conversation with APR went something like this, and I quote" your car has a different ECU for some reason, so if you want the extra ECU you will need to wait as the replacement part number has not been tested and is difficult to get". Do you know anything about this? My car was built in April 2000.....
Thanks for the prompt responses.....

Don't know about the "W" but the ICON is easy to see in the dash.

It appears in the tachometer, correct? Or is it on the speedo....i was told that if there is a "w" on your key, that means you have an immobilizer...is this true???

Hello Hans! We are working on the Immobilizer issue. We would need to know if you have that feature or not. When you start the car a small icon of a KEY will appear (or not). We believe we can overcome the immobilizer issue soon.
We are doing R&D with MTM on this.
Do you have the KEY icon?

I am confused about these ECU's and the immobilizer not to mention this ECU problem and not being able to update my 2001 TT Coupe 225 Quattro. Any thoughts???

As far as the light on the dash goes . . .
In my 2000 180TTQ I get the light for the brake wear sensors and my car does not have the sensors. I would not go by the idiot light on the dash, it is called that for a reason! The engineers are idiots! lol
I will go outside and try swapping keys to see what happens to the climate control system and report back in a minute in a new thread.

I will get Tom to
post his findings on this subject. He had surgery today and will be back on Mon. He has been working with Audi on this to get some answers. Stay tuned and happy holidays.
