Anyone else feel the auto magazines are snubbing the TT?

BBC's Top Gear magazine has the TT at number 8 of their Top 100 cars. In front of any Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Jag, and the Hondas S2000, NSX, and the Ferraris F40, 550 Maranello, etc., although they do say that it is more about "styling than dynamic substance".

interior of the Boxster S (cheap). In fact, I was going to buy the Boxster for my next sportscar but, after driving both TTR225 and the S. I was convinced the TTR225 was the better of the two. They both have their own handling characteristics. The TT has a more inspired design. I didnt care about the price difference, I bought the better of the two cars(The Audi). I thought the media would swoon over the new Audi. I dont get it.

and for their advertisers. Look at the numbers of Porsche fans vs. Audi fans and do the math. Porsche has a history, both in numbers of cars sold and longevity that Audi can't match, at least as far as the U.S. market is concerned. Not to mention the "unintended acceleration" debacle.

and they followed a writer's makeover as he went to get new duds, a haircut & shoe to compliment the stylish TT. I don't recall when a car review did such a thing. This does nothing to dispel the myth that the TT is a poseur's car. They didn't say anything bad. But they focused more on the car being a stylelish/lifestyle car ... rather than focusing on it being an enthusist's choise.

Do they mean someone posing as having a high performance sports car (Ferrari, NSX, Porsche,...)? If so then maybe they're right. However, if they mean someone posing as someone who appreciates style, performance, and quality, they're dead wrong. The TT has all of that and does so quite nicely.
