Default Anyone have ABS decide not to function?

No ESP light, and ABS has worked fine for me before and since, but:

Driving down the freeway at 77 (75 MPH limit). Ahead I see an entire family of raccoons start to cross the road (I counted five.) I slam on my brakes but note I can clearly hear my tires squealing in agony and feel no pulsation whatsoever from the pedal. I release the brakes and swerve into the left lane and safely avoid all the critters.

I went back the next day and I saw nice long black streaks on the pavement so I can't believe ABS kicked in at all, yet I haven't received any ESP complaints and I know the ABS system self tests at each start because I had a transient ABS fault light the ESP light solid in the past.

Anyone else have their ABS decide to just not kick in?

Default Mine has been intermittent since the day I bought the car . . .

3 different dealers have all clearly stated that my ABS works perfectly. I know it is broken. It is either overly sensitive and kicks in all of the time or never kicks in. I always wants it off, but can't do that. Having it work whenever it feels like it is very unnerving to say the least.
