I went to Discount Tire to buy a new of tires for the TT. For $10 per tire, they will cut extra sipes all over the tread. They claim benefits in traction (wet or dry) and cooler running. I responded, "if there is no downside, why doesn't the manufacturer put more sipes on?" I'm not persuaded but I'm curious. (BTW, based on several recommendations on the forum, I went with Kumho Ecsta 712.)

Less support for the designed tread pattern. I've got Kuhmos too, and they're great right out of the box....I wouldn't do it....

I've done it for my mud tires (33 x 12.5") in my Jeep Wrangler, it works.
