Anyone have an N75 fail? What were the symptoms?

I found I could pull the charge pipe and look behind the cylinder head from the passengers side of the car, for a pretty good view of the waste gate. Then remove the waste gate's vac/pressure line at the N75 end. Rig up an extension to the line, as needed. While observing the waste gate, apply pressure carefully to the line. Your portable tire compressor will make more than enough pressure. The actuator/pull rod/waste gate should open and close SMOOTHLY as you apply and remove pressure. If it's sticky in it's action...

Will keep your test bookmarked tho and will try that if the N75 swap doesn't work. Might replace that hose too as it's one of the few that didn't get swapped to silicone.

I might go pick some more silicone up locally after work.
I am swapping out the N75 for just the boost machine as a test. If I have better boost response I guess it's the N75. Maybe I will try to figure out a way to just run the boost machine then! I'm sure steve has tried...
It's my understanding that the N75 is a real POS anyway and in big turbo land VW's try to eliminate this part and run a MBC.
IIRC running stock turbo and a MBC w/o N75 people were getting rid of boost issues and creating some too.

in hot water and a temp gauge while watching the impedance rise. Typically, they would break cleanly so you usually get a no connection off the bat.
I still have it on my parts bin and it still behaves the same way last time I checked it.
