Default anyone install aftermarket seats in their tt?

i have a set of sparco's that i was going to put in my corrado, but since it won't be done for a while, i'm seriously considering ordering another set and putting these in the tt.

however, i really like the butt-warmers, esp when it's just a little too brisk to have the top down -- i can probably get an interior shop to wire up a set.

mmm... milano...

what i'm really concerned about are the airbags. will an annoying light remain on? will i have any issues removing the stock seats?

Default Re: anyone install aftermarket seats in their tt?

I was looking into the forge recaro seats but giving up the side airbags isn't an option for me. Safety first. My $00.02.

Default i'll prolly end up putting in 4-points if i put the seats in...

and i feel safer with the the harnesses than i do with the airbags.

by far.

*not that i would actually be safer, i'd just feel safer.*

Default that's dependent on the attachment points.

that can definitely be *very* true.

Default It depends on a weather or not you roll the thing..

Ever try moving your body with a harness? Exactly, if you flip the car, your head will end up supporting the weight of the car until snap.. Do a search and you can read all about it..

Default if i roll the thing, i figure i'm pretty close to dead anyways...

remember, i'm a roadster.

also, the side airbags wouldn't be of much help in a rollover, just in a side-impact crash, correct? and the harnesses should offset that, no?

you've got a great point, though, and it's something that i didn't really think about. thanks for bringing it to my attention!

also, i simultaneously like and hate the new sig -- what is bilstein telling you at this point?

Default I would reccomend a sub belt. (i.e. 5-point harness) >>>>

With a collision, the sudden stopage of the car will cause your body to slide under the lap belts. Your best option (tho, a little more $$) is to go with the 5-point or even better the 6-point systems. SCCA, PCA, POC, and BMWCA, all reccomend this. My .02 cents.

cheers,
Chad A.

Default

Yeah - the Milanos would look great but I'm hesitant not for the heaters but the side air bag loss

Default no.. My best freind rolled his Z3 off of mulholand.. down a cliff..

few stiches.. good as new.
No harness.. the car was totalled.

The TT Roadster. does have roll hoops.
I dont think the attachment points matter.

there are a few rules to follow, but it the end.. if your roof collaspses, and your sitting upright in your seat, ITS YOUR HEAD.

Default sage advice...

i'm just not a fan of them as far as the comfort issue is concerned... small price to pay, though, i suppose.

i need to get this invincible teenager mentality out of my head.
