Default 1. Go to the dealer and get the correct tool..Or alternately use 2 nail files

One in each slot and simultaneously "splay" them out wards and try and wriggle the unit out using the cassette slot. Its awkward but doable..Once you get it out you'll see the mehcnaism for holding it in and will undertand better for next time you remove it.

Default Here are the diagrams to go along with what Marcus suggests, which is good advice.

Radio, removing and installing

Notes:

Obtain radio anti - theft coding before removing.

Installing

- Remove release keys from radio.

- Plug in connectors.

Default I've watched my tech remove my radio once but the tools weren't inserted from the underside of the..

radio as your diagram shows but from the sides. Maybe some of the radios are slightly different.

Default Most German DIN setups have.......>>

2 holes (vertical alignment) on each end of the radio. You use a U shaped tool (coat hanger works) to release the internal tabs on the DIN bracket. You might have an older design.

Default Same thing happened to me - here's where to buy the tools:

Call them and ask them to send you the Becker Radio Removal tools (used for Mercedes - they're the same ones). They're $2.80. (+ $5-$10 for shipping, depending on how fast you want it). (877) 407-2950
is continental imports # - they're very nice and knowledgable.

Autotoys.com also sells similar tools for a bit more - they're three way tools and work in lots of different vehicles, but it's more expensive, and autotoys customer service is TERRIBLE.

I also shorted something when I tried it with a non-standard tool. It had blown the 5amp fuse on the back of the unit - it's a standard auto fuse, available anywhere.

For some reason, even after I disconnected it and reconnected it, it didn't need the radio code! But make sure you have it handy, just in case.<ul><li><a href="http://www.continentalimports.com">http://www.continentalimports.com</a</li></ul>
