Thanks to Bob, I've now been looking at replacing the head unit. I kinda like this one... <a href="http://kenwoodusa.com/products/ListProduct.aspx?k1=2&k2=46&k3=172&pr=2358" target="_blank">Kenwood KDC-X790</a>
I think the **** surround color can change to red.

I've got the earlier 789 version of that..>
I think you can change the phatnoise software to work (it's basically the same as the Kenwood Music Keg). I think Hans has done this..

It's a good upgrade none the less, and cheap too...I sold off my old stuff on Ebay so it was a break-even. CD in the dash, Aux in for the MP3, better tonal controls, and improved Radio reception made it more than worth it..:-)
