Default Anyone out there with the washer fluid leak?

I put in fluid the other weekend but never used any. Today my low fluid warning icon came on. That's just over a week and the reservoir is empty. I didn't fill it up, but did put in 1/3 gallon.

How fast has your reservoir leaked away?

Default Didn't mention this before because I thought it was just me...

Bill, filled it up entirely with the regular old jug of stuff from the gas station -- 3 hours later that day, washer fluid light comes on again. Nothing in there, empty. Went through this process again, same results. Figure I have a hole in the bottom somewhere. Somewhere in my noggin I remember Audi uses different forumlation of fluid -- I think. Just for the heck of it, I bought a jug of some very fancy winter washer fluid, and voila, it's been fine ever since. Anybody have an explanation for this? I don't.

Default i remember reading in this forum about a special formulation...

but there's nothing in the owners manual about it -- it just discusses using regular fluid.

ps -- no leaks (yet?)!

Default There ARE two formulations of washer fluid...

my local Audi dealer sells the "blue" washer fluid..which is clearly a VW product judging by the packaging and part numbers.

However, Diablo Audi of Concord sell Autobahn "Premium Windshield Washer Solvent" under Audi part number ZVW 177 904. It's yellow in colour and when used has the wonderful chemical smell that clears your sinuses.

Default One or more of your alien cannons is (are) broken...fill up, squirt and look for

leak over time under your aliens.

Had same thing...had them change out bottle that wasn't broken. Problem persisted....then noticed leak was under front bumper...diagnosed as broken alien cannon.

Happens when you hit a parking barrier or such.

Default Squirt your aliens once and it will start the siphoning process...

and will drain your reservoir...*probably*.

Maybe DC's problem is different. but TTNancy's broken alien cannons will not drain or drip after reservoir refill until a squirt is deployed, then the siphon process is underway. Weird, huh?

You might have to tell your service guy about this cause mine had no clue where to track it down, until I diagnosed it for them.

Think I remember Colonel Bogey reporting this same "cagey" problem eons ago. He may be able to confirm.

Default Had a feeling it might have something to do with the aliens. Will

have them check next time. Guess I just won't use the aliens with the headlights on!!! My first quirk!
