Anyone removed the driver's seat? (or know what's involved)
I need to address a chronic "creaking" in the the driver's seat that suddenly developed after about 54,000 miles. Happens every time my weight shifts (like when shifting, during stops, quick starts, etc.) It's driving me crazy. I suspect it's just some plastic part flexing against another, but I can't see much under the seat.
I curious how easy it is to remove the seat, and how to go about it, but I don't have access to the Bently repair manual CD.
Can anyone help with either the how-to-remove question, or a diagnosis of the cause?
Thanks.

8 mm allen Wrench, preferably a "ball end" type....
You will need to remove the plastic caps on the front of the rail.
There are 4 8mm socket head cap screws that hold the seat in place.
Slide the seat all the way forward, do the rears first, slide it back, do the fronts.
you will need to unplug the airbag connector also.
BE CAREFUL with this.

To remove the seat, you need to remove 4 bolts...
You will need a 7mm allen wrench - I think might be 8mm, but anyhow...
slide seat all the way forward.
look behind the seat on the floor and you'll see 1 bolt on each side - remove
slide seat all the way back
remove the plastic cover at the front end of the rails
remove 1 bolt from each side.
At this point the cables for the air bags and seat warmers are the only thing attached to the seat - disconnect if you want and remove the seat from the car.

if you figure it out, let me know, my dealer never "hears" it...
but its driving me crazy also - sometimes it seems temperature dependant, other times it seems to depend on if I have the seat elevated or not - sometimes just where on the mounting rail the seat is - and of course sometimes it doesn't do it at all - grrr!

I'll post my results when I remove the seat (more)
Ivan had previously posted a solution to a noisy seat problem in the FAQ section of www.auditt.org.
His dealer had removed the seat and applied a long strip of velcro (the fuzzy side only) between a plastic piece and a metal piece that each run across the width of the underside of the seat. It reportedly fixed his problem.

http://www.auditt.org/faq/979064519</a
