Default Anyone repair a crack in the lower part of the front bumper? {LONG}

<begin rant>
I just bought a 2001 TT on ebay from a dealer north of NYC. They mis-represented the car somewhat and said that the car had no damage other than some minor scrapes on the wheels (told me this after the auction had closed)

my new paperclip mod to hold it together!

Even passenger side light is a little loose and seems to be aimed to high from damage.

The main problem was as crack in the lower middle part of the bumper below the bottom grill. The grill is still in place fine but the crack goes all the way throug the lower section and the 2 halves can separate and there is a section missing where it attaches to the frame.

In addition, there was no mention of the car having only one key. The posting stated that the car had a full service history when infact there was not documentaion when I went to pick it up. Also the posting stated the seats were leather when they are the cloth option and very stained for only a 2 year old car, as well as stains on the carpeting but thats another story. Check picture poster for those pictures...
<\end rant>

The dealer I bought It from said they would pay for the repairs to the bumper only but he only wants to pay for a cheap patch to mend the two halves from behind it. I took it to the Audi dealer and another body shop in Richmond, VA and they will not even give me an estimate for the patch job, since they claim that it will easily crack open again. They said that if i ever bump into anything it will open up again. They even said no one in Richmond would agree to that sort of patch as it would not hold.

The price for the proper fix from the dealer is $1136 and from Super Bruce's Auto Body was $850. Both said they had to blend to the hood and quarter panels to get the paint to match since they cant use the same paint as the do in europe.
I would rather have them paint it off the car if possible and hope that the colors match up. I dont really want to have the whole front painted if possible.

Any ideas if the patch will hold? It will save the dealer about $500 or more probably if they can find someone to do it.

I will post a picture of the damage tonight.

Thanks!

picture poster lunk!

Default That pic of the dead <edit> fox *in* the TT air dam in your pic poster is hilarious.

May the poor little guy rest in peace.

I'm very sorry to hear of the Ebay ripoff, however. I sort of think you should force them to buy leather seats for you as well, since it clearly sounds like a cheating case of fraud.

Fully Detailed

Maybe I should not complain... I did only pay $24,301 for it. It did have an extra 500 miles in 2 weeks though?

So I think I might give him negative feedback as its not worth trying to sue him and I'm not into that.

He did write on the bill of sale that they would pay for the repair. That was before he found out that no one would agree to patch it. He also said he would pay for an extra key which he has not sent payment for yet.

I hope he will pay for a proper repair or else I think he will have another negative feedback.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1872130488</a
