Anyone tried that Rain-X crap? Does it work? Leave a haze/film? Does it attract migrating geese???

Was driving a Beretta GTZ in the early '90's w/ Goodyear Eagle VR's (great rain tires, which sucked in the snow) across OH. Hit one of those thunderstorms that force everyone to flip the wipers on high, and slow down to abt. 30mph.
I found that if I left the wipers off, I could see better...and since the tires shed so much water I could go abt. 60mph (could've gone much quicker, but "un"common sense prevailed![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Would have paid for a bottle of rainX for each person I passed to see the look of disbelief on their face.
Since then I've always used it, just isn't worth trying to fling water off the windshield with the wipers when it'll stream up and off letting you see so much more clearly.

I'm **** about my glass. I simply cannot stand to have any dirt/marks/streaks. I've found that between Rain-X applications (I apply monthly), if I want to clean the glass, I must use a glass cleaner with ammonia (Windex, etc.). So, I have ammonia-free cleaner for inside on the tinted windows (ironically, Rain-X glass cleaner is ammonia-free) and I have to use Windex on the outside. The ammonia-free stuff causes horrendous streaks on the exterior (Rain-X'd) glass.

when the rain is too light or too heavy and they streak over the Rain-X badly, so much so that for a second you can't see well.
I know I am the only negative post here, but I have tried Rain-X 3 times and it just doesn't do much for me.
Has anyone tried it on the bumper to make it easier to get bugs off?
