This is directly from the Bentley CD Manual. Pages 14 & 15 under Maintenance. Do a search on 'Windshield Washer/Wiper'.
Description of work
Notes:
Do not use a pin or other sharp objects, as these will damage the washer jets.
Windshield washer jet settings
- Mark the top of the area where the spray jets should contact the glass using a water - soluble marker pen.

Larry - the little screwdriverable dealy does NOT change the contact point of the fluid, just
the intensity of discharge.
Meaning, the distance labeled "a" in the Bentley graphic you provide is closer to 100-150mm on my car, making the adjustment shown in A92-0038 does NOT increase the distance measured by "a", but does increase the intensity/breadth of the "fan-shaped" spray pattern... In case I have not made this sufficiently clear, I want to increase the distance "a", not the breadth of the spray pattern. Is it possible that your manual is not for MY 2001??? Or, that the part has changed? Or, that my spray doo-hickey is busted??? I doubt the last, as I tested the passenger side unit, as well, as a control.

I honestly don't know the answer to #2.
I wanted to provide the entire text from the Bentley incase someone (Rahul) thought I was making stuff up.
Seriously I don't know why it does not work. I will head outside and try mine out and see what it does. I will mark my windshield and adjust the sprayer and see what it does. I think I have a metric ruler somewhere! lol
Give me a little while to get this done and I will post my results.
Rahul, all I can do is provide the information, I can't vouch for its accuracy. lol But now you can see why I posted what I did, right? But either way, don't use a pin!

Thanks Larry!!! Won't use a pin, as poorly functioning nozzles are better than non-functioning...
seems like the head-unit itself should move, or atleast the "eye" from which the fluid is released, but neither of these things happen by turning the little doo-hickey... Maybe, this warrants a visit to the dealer, if you can't find anything. Thanks for the efforts, either way... :-)
